How an inverter generator set is made

The inverter generator is an electromechanical machine that produces electricity thanks to the combination of an alternator and a combustion engine. In other words, it is an electric generator composed of: motor, alternator, control panel, base (open or closed, fixed or mobile, ie on wheels), and casing, present only in closed current generators which in this case are called silenced or soundproofed. The engine, through the fuel, produces mechanical energy, while the alternator is used to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.

What kind of engine must have a generator set with inverter technology

The combustion engine of a generator set with inverter can be of different types: petrol, diesel, gas or external type. The petrol-powered engine is mainly used for generating sets up to 10 kW. The diesel engine is usually used for generator sets from 8 kVA up to several tens of kVA.

Types of electric generators

In addition to the decision of the right power depending on the load to be fed, another very important aspect in choosing the inverter generator set that best suits your needs are the noise, which changes according to the type of generator. Among the main types, are mainly open generators, such as those of our Fast, Next, Cosmo, Air, Space and Welder series, which have all the electrical and mechanical components in sight, without mechanical protection and noise abatement, and the groups silenced or hooded electric generators, like those of our Urban, Argo, Mistral, and Road series, which are characterized by their high degree of mechanical protection and high noise reduction, thanks to the metal sheet steel hood, which encloses all internal parts.

IEC standards for low voltage switchboards

The IEC standard for electrical panels “Assemblies of protection and low voltage switching devices” is EN 61439-1 (CEI 17-113) which replaced the old 60439-1 and applies to any type of low voltage switchgear, regardless of size and shape (classical power panels, busbar ducts, building boards, etc.).. For this kind of switchgear, the nominal voltage must not exceed 1000 V in alternating current and 1500 V in direct current.

How should the electrical panels according to the IEC

Based on their installation and location, the electrical panels can be fixed, movable and transportable, open, indoor or outdoor, while depending on their function they can be control, distribution, generation, transformation and regulation. Our control panels comply with IEC EN 61439-1 and IEC EN 60204-1 “Safety of machinery. Electrical equipment of machines. General rules”. To the realization of the finished framework only one subject assumes all responsibility for compliance with the regulations in force, ie the manufacturer, whose name must also be reported on a plate attached to the electrical panel itself.

The evolution of modern electrical panels

The IEC standard for electrical panels defines the electrical panel as a complex element composed of mechanical components with the function of protection and support of all the equipment contained within them, electrical equipment, which includes the command, maneuver and control instruments, and segregations, that is internal subdivisions through insulating barriers. Over the years, the electrical panel has abandoned the function of simple container assuming also that of a system composed of different devices with the aim of making the system functional and safe. An electrical panel is considered compliant with IEC 61439-1 if at least one of the verification procedures has been performed on it through laboratory tests, calculations and elaborations of project rules.

Our fire-fighting groups with diesel or electric motor

Fourgroup groups suitable for the construction of a fire pumping station are composed of the engine, which can be diesel or electric, and starter for main pump according to EN 12845. The model D-J0 series, for example, it consists of a main back-pull-out centrifugal pump according to EN 733 standard and diesel engine, or the E-J0 series, with three phase asynchronous electric motor and main electric pump wired to the electric control panel installed on board the skid. The E-J series, on the other hand, consists of a main pump, always back pull-out type, with three-phase asynchronous electric motor and main electric pump plus a pilot pump, both wired to the electric control panels, which are installed on board skid.

Our submerged fire-fighting groups: SP and VE-J series

The SP series fire-extinguishing unit is a system consisting of a submerged-type main pump equipped with a three-phase asynchronous motor. This group can be equipped with up to two main electric pumps, and a pilot pump, always submerged type. The VE-J series instead is the fire-fighting unit equipped with “vertical turbine pumps” main pumps and a three-phase asynchronous electric motor. This series can be completed with a main electric pump, reserve motor pump and a pilot pump.

Three-phase pump: what is it and how it works

The three-phase pump is equipped with an electric motor powered by three phases, ie by three sinusoidal voltages, and is used above all in the case of medium-high powers, such as in the industrial and automation sectors. For the lower ones, however, we use the single-phase pump, which is usually found in our homes. In order to work, the three-phase motor requires the use of a three-phase system of 120° out-of-phase currents, ie a generator consisting of three alternating current circuits

What is the main function of hydraulic pumps?

The hydraulic pumps, through the energy produced by the engine, have the task of moving the flow water allowing the water to move from one point to another. The purposes of the electric pumps or centrifugal pumps, named so because they work thanks to the power of the electric motor and the movement of the impellers, are many including: to make the liquid emerge from the bottom of the well on the surface, clean the water of a pool in order to be able to filter it, to disperse the water to several houses after having collected it in a cistern and to desalinate the water, exploiting the hydraulic pressure for the recovery of water.

The electromechanical panels with three-phase pumps

Our direct-start electromechanical panels represent the most functional, simple and traditional system since they allow the motor to be connected directly to the electrical network. They can also be equipped with a single-phase or three-phase pump for applications with clean water or waste water. This type of starting is especially suitable for electric pumps and electric motors that require a reduced number of starts per hour, like our Autoel-1.
